Vicki Lowe is completing her PhD in observational astronomy and is co-affiliated with the University of New South Wales and CSIRO Astronomy and Space Science. Her research involves characterising the stellar nursery. She uses Australian radio telescopes (70-m Tidbinbilla, Parkes, Mopra, and the Australia Telescope Compact Array) to study the molecular structure within the Milky Way and to detect organic molecules which may act as precursors to the building blocks of life.
