Adrian Brown is a planetary scientist working at the SETI Institute and NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California. He is a specialist in remote sensing of Mars, and has published recent work linking the Pilbara region of Western Australia to the Nili Fossae region of Mars, where the "CRISM" imaging spectrometer on Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has found signatures of carbonate, interpreted by Adrian and his colleagues as evidence for hydrothermal talc-carbonate alteration, similar in origin to mineral distributions in the most ancient rocks in Australia. Find out more about why future Mars landers should explore Nili Fossae at http://abrown.seti.org, or email Adrian.J.Brown@nasa.gov.
