The Australian Centre of Astrobiology and the University of New South Wales are active centres of research in the field of astrophysics. Current research topics include astrobiology, cosmology, star formation and extrasolar planets.
The Planetary Atmospheres Group studies the atmospheres of planets within our solar system and beyond it, and is led by Associate Professor Jeremy Bailey.
Combining optical, infrared, millimetre and radio telescopes, the Star Formation group is undertaking a range of projects exploring the environments where star formation occurs in our Galaxy.
